Connecticut First Responders use drones every day to keep us safe.
Here are just some of the many examples.
If it weren't for the drone, the neighboring house might have burned down.
Event: December 27, 2021 fire at 11 Glastonbury Avenue, Rocky Hill
Department: Rocky Hill Fire Department (submitted by Mark Gentile, Deputy Chief)
Critical Role of the UAV: Our DJI drone provided situational awareness, helping us see where the fire was traveling in the cockloft of the roof. The thermal imaging was critical in enabling us to observe the heat signature on the adjacent building, alerting us to the immediate need to mitigate the exposure. Although the buildings were less than 15 feet apart, damage to the adjacent building was limited to some melting of the vinyl siding that occurred prior to our arrival.
